Detailed Question:

Hello Doctor,
I got married in Jan 2015 from April 2015 we have been trying for baby. So this January 2016, we planned to consult a doctor with my Ultrasound report because 2.5/3 years back I was suffering from PCOS but now everything is fine. My periods are regular so doctor prescribed me medicine OVACARE MYO for 30 days by which I gained weight. In February, my periods appeared like spotting so again I consulted the doctor then she said I have to undergo few hormone tests on Day 2 of my periods which certainly din't happened in February.
Now, in March as per my last date it was 7th Feb my periods din't appear and I also kept waiting because there was some giggles of getting good news. On 25th I did done pregnancy test and it was negative then I called doctor and she prescribed me medicine to appear my periods but without medicines, my periods appeared the same day I went to doctor. And also I have done those tests which reports are as follows:
  • AMH-9.53 ng/ml FSH-4.85
  • mIU/ml TSH- 1.24 IU/ml
  • PROLACTIN 15.27 ng/ml
  • LH 4.65 mIU/ml
  • ESTRADIOL(E2)
  • SERUM 34.6 pg/ml
Please guide me as per my reports.

You are suffering from primary infertility due to PCOS. This can be treated and requires regular follow up and therapy to monitor your body's response to the medication. Your AMH or anti-muellerian hormone levels are higher, which is a sign that your body is not ovulating correctly. Hence the plan of action now will be to do induction and ovulation in next cycle and meanwhile you can start yourself with prenatal vitamins to replenish the body of folate stores for the coming pregnancy and fetus. Take tab. folvite 5mg - once daily for 3 mnths. Consult once you get your periods in the next cycle as discussed.

PCOS

Polycystic ovary syndrome is a problem in which a woman's hormones are out of balance. It can cause problems with your periods and make it difficult to get pregnant.
PCOS also may cause unwanted changes in the way you look. If it isn't treated, over time it can lead to serious health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease.

Most women with PCOS grow many small cysts  on their ovaries. That is why it is called polycystic ovary syndrome. The cysts are not harmful but lead to hormone imbalances.

Early diagnosis and treatment can help control the symptoms and prevent long-term problems.

Causes of  PCOS

The cause of PCOS is not fully understood, but genetics may be a factor. PCOS seems to run in families, so your chance of having it is higher if other women in your family have it or have irregular periods or diabetes. PCOS can be passed down from either your mother's or father's side.

Symptoms of PCOS

Symptoms tend to be mild at first. You may have only a few symptoms or a lot of them. The most common symptoms are:

  • Acne
  • Weight gain and trouble losing weight
  • Extra hair on the face and body: Often women get thicker and darker facial hair and more hair on the chest, belly, and back.
  •  Thinning hair on the scalp
  • Irregular periods: Often women with PCOS have fewer than nine periods a year. Some women have no periods. Others have very heavy bleeding.
  •  Fertility problems: Many women who have PCOS have trouble getting pregnant.
  • Depression
