Detailed Question:

Suffering from recurring Anal Fissures. I want to know how to heal it permanently without an operation.

Hi, I am 34 years old Male. From the last 5 years (from 2011), I have been suffering from recurring Anal fissures. First time I got fissures was in 2011 and thereafter the few ones were very painful. Doctors advised me to take the following:
  • More fibre
  • Stool softening powders
  • Use Lox 2% jelly
  • Sitz bath
After I take these, the fissure heals but again reoccurs after 2-3 months. My anus area is not smooth and has flesh popping out (forgot the medical term) and hence whenever the stool passes from the extreme back area of my anus, the fissure opens.

Two months back I also underwent Sigmoidoscopy and the results were normal with one Small Fissure and Small Piles. Doctor advised me to use lOX 2% jelly and Anobliss cream. Kindly help me with below queries:
1) How can I permanently heal my Fissure without operation?
2) Is it safe to keep applying Lox 2% jelly every time I Poop?
3) Can recurring fissures also translate to rectal/anal cancer? I am very concerned.
4) Any alternate medicine which can heal it permanently.
Regards

Your stool problem can be healed and cured if you try and avoid constipation consciously. This involved diet and lifestyle changes, such as increasing intake of water and keeping a steady balance, eating a high fibre diet daily and avoiding processed foods like all purpose flour (maida), meats and other such foods. There are usually certain types of foods that trigger such reactions in piles. Lox on long term may not be suitable as it can cause liver injury.

Alternatively, you can use Cremadiet powder in lukewarm water to drink everyday at bedtime to prevent such problems and cure your fissure. Also the hemorrhoids you mentioned may require surgery if they become too painful, but you can leave them in place if no other symptoms. Usually anal cancer is very rare but piles or hemorrhoids may progress nonetheless, hence it requires a yearly check up in spite of being symptom-free.
