Detailed Question:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I gave birth to my baby last year in April 2015. After that I got bleeding problem due to which, my uterus was removed. Doctors said that there was no other option.

Recently I was diagnosed with thyroid problem. In my first test, my TSH result was 15.5. My doctor suggested to use 100 mg daily and after 1 and half month I used to start 50 mg.

After 10 days I went for test and my TSH result is 0.11. One week post that, I felt some dizziness like illness. Sometimes I felt little eyes rotation suddenly.

Can you please suggest me how much MG I should use daily?  And please help me in diet plan also. Can you please help me?.

Your diagnosis is Hypo-hyperthyroid. Let me first explain what is Hypo-hyperthyroid. Generally a person gets either hypo thyroid or hyper thyroid, but some patients actually have such antibodies that puts the thyroid into a situation of push-pull, where the thyroid cycles up and down through hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Some common symptoms are:

  • Dizziness
  • Substantial weight loss
  • Panic attacks

You have taken the thyroid medicines for a long time and the levels are now in control hence you can stop it. However the thyroid now has tipped over to the hyperthyroid side and hence the symptoms you are facing. Discontinuation of the medicine by itself should bring back your normal thyroid balance and as discussed you must perform a repeat thyroid function test after 4 weeks of stopping the medicine.

Consult again if problem persists. Advised to stop current medicine and take the following medicines for the dizziness:

Tab. Vertin 8mg - 1-0-0 for 1 month
