Can I enjoy sex, ejaculation, orgasm and masturbation like before, after vasectomy?

Last Updated - Fri, Mar 16 2018

Detailed Question:

Hi doctor,

I wanted to undergo some birth control measure. After talking to a lot of people, I have now decided to undergo a vasectomy. But, prior to undergoing the surgery, I wanted to clear a lot of my queries regarding the whole procedure and its consequences. Some people told me that ejaculation will happen as before and the fluid will come without any sperm content. Is that true?

What will the semen look like, without any sperm in it? Will it feel and smell the same? After vasectomy, will I be able to masturbate? I want to enjoy masturbating as much as I do, now, even after the surgery! I want all types of ejaculation also to be pleasurable as it is now. What will happen to the sperms after vasectomy? I heard they will go into the scrotum. Will my scrotum get swollen because of this? Will this be the cause of any infection or disease?

I'm also worried if I will be able to enjoy my sex life after vasectomy. Will my body undergo any changes that will not let me have a satisfactory intercourse? Will it affect (reduce, more precisely) my erection?

The bottomline is that I should be able to enjoy my masturbation, sex, orgasm and ejaculation as now, even after the vasectomy. Will that be possible?

Hello,

Vasectomy is one of the very simple birth control measure for males. In this procedure, only the tubes delivering the sperms are cut and tied. This in turn decreases male fertility as sperms are the main source which are involved in reproduction. After the ligation, you will be able to ejaculate normally. The only difference will be that your semen will not contain sperms. You may just require rest for a day or two after the surgery. After that you can get back to your daily routine.

Sexual activities like intercourse and masturbation after vasectomy can be continued as before, after the rest. There will also be no change in attaining orgasm or any other pleasure that you used to have before the vasectomy. Ask a sex doctor in detail if you have any specific query related to orgasm after vasectomy.

Some other reasons you should choose Vasectomy over tubal ligation (procedure for women) are that vasectomy is easier to perform, safer, the complications less serious, and can easily be performed within a doctor’s office.

Hope this answers your question. If you have any further queries, you can consult a doctor to clarify them.

Best wishes!
