Detailed Question:

My wife's uterus and one ovary removed due to fibroid 19 years back.

Now she is 61 years old, after 6 years she started taking estrogen after consulting gynecologist. took proginova, her problem was not over and she has seen different doctors and most of them recommend estrogen in different type.

She is having estrogen and she says it feels too hot in both ears, hair fall, depression and fever like feeling.

Finally one doctor said that this problem is because of taking estrogen for long time and it is not required, she stopped medicine and the problems are still continuing.
I took her to so many doctors and giving all the med, is it allergy?

What she should do now.most of the med exam including scanning of head, thyroid, blood, urine, kidney, liver is checked and everything is ok.
Please give me instruction.

Your wife is in a condition called post-menopause and hysterectomy.

Common side effects of hysterectomy include

  •     Hot flashes
  •     Bleeding, pain, infection
  •     Sleeplessness
  •     Joint pain
  •     Loss of sexual desire
  •     Hair loss
  •     Development of excess facial hair on the upper lip and chin region
  •     Vaginal dryness
  •     Mood swings, anxiety, depression
  •     Headaches, palpitations
  •     Weight gain

This causes the problems you mentioned and Estrogen was prescribed to cure the symptoms. However it has affected her adversely and she must get an Estradiol and Progesterone test done to know the status currently.

Inspite of stopping the medicines this condition will not improve since this is a hormonal issue. She can also consult with an Endocrinologist for this problem and he will advice the best cure.

Surely it is treatable and meanwhile if she is not calm at mind, she can take sessions to speak with a Psychologist as well. This will help her control the problem too and improve your relations at home.
